ColoWrap is the only device specifically developed to prevent looping during colonoscopy. Non-invasive and ergonomically designed, the ColoWrap is clinically proven to reduce the need for manual pressure and patient repositioning by up to 90%1-4 and to reduce the mean cecal intubation time by up to 23%. This greatly reduces the risk of musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) for endoscopy personnel and enhances the safety of colonoscopy for patients, providers, and endoscopy personnel.
ColoWrap is a single-patient use device. The material composition of ColoWrap cannot be sterilized. Patients may take their ColoWrap home and bring it back for repeat procedures. A single ColoWrap device may not be used for multiple patients.
No. Unlike an abdominal binder, the ColoWrap is specifically designed to splint the colon during colonoscopy. ColoWrap uses a proprietary neoprene-based, latex free, primary band to achieve the necessary concavity and splinting, while the two secondary straps can be used to provide safe, targeted pressure to both the sigmoid and transverse colon.
Yes, ColoWrap comes in five sizes: Small, Medium, Large, XL, and XXL. Additionally, there is a ColoWrap extension kit that can be used with the XXL for larger weight patients. With five sizes and the extension kit, the ColoWrap supports patients under 135 lbs up to 500 lbs. You can find a Sizing Guide in the Resources section of the website.
Yes, ColoWrap is a latex-free device.

By minimizing looping and the need for manual pressure, ColoWrap has been able to reduce patient discomfort, shorten cecal intubation time, and improve adenoma detection; enhancing the safety and efficacy of colonoscopy for patients.
ColoWrap enhances the safety of colonoscopy for nurses and technicians by minimizing the need for manual pressure and repositioning. Clinical studies show that ColoWrap:
By minimizing the occurrence of looping, ColoWrap shortens cecal intubation time, improves adenoma detection, and mitigates ergonomic risks from looping. In clinical studies, ColoWrap has been proven to reduce the frequency of prolonged procedures by more than 50%7. Additionally, 75% of physicians using ColoWrap reported significant to very significant reductions in physical strain8.
ColoWrap is safe for all patients (except those contraindicated). The ColoWrap team works with each facility (request your baseline assessment here) to develop a usage plan that best meets goal and budget objectives. In most circumstances, the patient population ideal for ColoWrap use is around 20-30% of hospital-based colonoscopies. Common criteria include, but are not limited to:
ColoWrap has the following contraindications:
Yes. For maximum safety and ergonomics, it is recommended that ColoWrap be applied to the patient before the procedure. However, if faced with unanticipated difficulty or the likelihood of a failed colonoscopy, ColoWrap can be applied intra-procedurally to aid in reaching the cecum. This technique can be accomplished in the same fashion as changing the sheets / pads on an occupied hospital bed.
Many hospitals allow patients to take the ColoWrap home, or for those who get frequent colonoscopies to bring their ColoWrap back with them. These policies are up to each hospital or medical center.
Yes. ColoWrap has been used in 100,000 colonoscopies (and counting!) with no adverse events reported.
Yes. ColoWrap has been evaluated in four clinical trials1,3,9-11 involving over 900 patients establishing the safety and efficacy of the device for use during colonoscopy.
No. ColoWrap’s design and placement at or below the iliac crest delivers consistent, controlled pressure to the lower abdomen without restricting the diaphragm or compressing the stomach. Any precaution undertaken or advised when using manual pressure during colonoscopy should also be considered when using ColoWrap (e.g. Delayed gastric emptying / Gastroparesis).
ColoWrap takes a robust data-driven approach to working with you and your team to fully evaluate our product (we know it works!):
ColoWrap 360 is a first-of-its-kind AI companion to the ColoWrap that helps you predict and prevent difficult colonoscopies through data collection and analysis.
With ColoWrap 360’s proprietary analysis you’ll be able to:
Yes. ColoWrap is patient billable. In most cases, it is categorized as a non-routine surgical disposable supply. The codes used to account for it vary from site to site, based on payer relationship.
Though ColoWrap is single-patient use, it reduces the carbon footprint of colonoscopy through reduced time and fewer repeat procedures.
